What to expect from Allnutt Funeral Service

For well over a century, Allnutt Funeral Service has been providing quality service to our communities. Superior service has become our highest goal. We have always maintained the philosophy that if any family has not been served well, or has not received value for the services we provided, we will make it right. This is our service commitment.

Our role is to provide quality service to you, and assist you in arranging a funeral that meets all the needs of your family and friends. We provide options to help you make informed decisions about the ceremony, burial or cremation services. We will provide you knowledge and information, explain the difference between the caskets, urns, and vault selections, as well as other items available which may help you create a personalized service. Our role is to take care of all the details, so you can share personal time with your family and friends.

When a death occurs

If death occurs at a hospital or nursing home, the staff of the facilities will notify the funeral home at your request. If death occurs at home the family doctor should be notified. If a physician has not been in attendance, the County Coroner should be called. When a funeral home has been notified, our staff will go to the place of death and complete the transfer of the deceased to our funeral home. If you have not already been in contact with the Funeral Director we will call you, introduce ourselves, and proceed to answer questions and prepare you for the funeral arrangement conference. If you are not sure what to do please call us first. Allnutt Funeral Service staff is on call 24 hours a day and we are glad to assist by answering your questions or addressing your concerns immediately.

What are Your Funeral Options?

There are several steps to complete the funeral arrangements for either burial or cremation services. Details are completed during the meeting between the funeral director and the family. Normally this conference is at the funeral home, however it may be held within the comfort of the family's home. It is important throughout the arrangement conference for you to feel comfortable, and for you to allow us to get to know about the life of the deceased, you, and your family. This conference is very important to all concerned.

The next step is to gather information for the Death Certificate. This would include the following:

  • Name of the Deceased
  • Age
  • Date of Birth
  • Place of Birth
  • Social Security Number
  • Occupation
  • Industry of Occupation
  • Years of Occupation
  • Years of Education
  • Name and Relationship of the Next of Kin
  • Martial Status
  • Name of Spouse
  • Name of Parents
  • Name and Relationship of Responsible Party

 

Once the information for the Death Certificate has been secured we will together create the obituary, which will be placed in the local newspaper, and out of town newspapers if appropriate. The purpose of the obituary is to notify friends of the death, tell a brief life sketch, and to inform friends of service time and place. This information usually includes but is not limited to:

  • Name of spouse and place and date of marriage.
  • The names of High School and Universities or Colleges they may have attended.
  • What the person did during his or her working career.
  • Organizations, groups or clubs they may have belonged to.
  • Hobbies
  • Personal information such as "he enjoyed reading".
  • Family information such as sons, daughters, brothers, sisters etc.

 

An obituary can be difficult to write during an arrangement conference since there may be many important dates and remembrances that you want included. We recommend having this information completed through advanced planning.

Planning the Service

Planning the service is what makes the Allnutt Difference. Our role is to provide you options to help you create a service that you will cherish and which is special to the needs of your family members and friends. We have arranged religious services in mortuaries, churches, and parks. Services have included horses and pets, motorcycles and cars, with personalized tributes of photos presented during the service, accompanied with music. We have developed experience while serving families since 1886, and we are proud to be able to award that experience to you.

Choosing a Casket, Urn, Vault and other merchandise

Choosing a casket, urn or vault may sometimes be overwhelming. Our role is to inform you of differences, therefore allowing you to make an informed decision. We are pleased to provide you the best selections of caskets, urns and vaults. Caskets are available in hard woods such as oak, pine, and cherry. Metal caskets created from steel, stainless steel, copper or bronze are frequently chosen. We have a wide variety of urns made of materials such as wood, bronze, stainless steel, pewter, closinee and granite. We are able to personalize your urn with a name, dates, a scene of a favorite memory, or even a photo. Choosing a vault is also an important part of the burial process. Each cemetery has requirements regarding the use of burial vaults and we will explain cemetery fees and requirements.
